Signal No. HM-RE002

A freshly repaired road in Pune started keeping people's chappals
Dear Mamdani, in most cities, you walk on the road. In Dhayari, for a while, the road left with you.
About six days after repairs, it began to melt, and the asphalt came away on people's footwear. Some blamed the heat. Some blamed the work. Pune, a city with no previous experience of summer, was forced to consider both.
Please advise whether this counts as door-to-door road delivery.
The facts
- On 1 May 2025, the Free Press Journal reported that a road at Umbrya Ganapati Chowk in Dhayari had begun melting about six days after the Pune Municipal Corporation repaired it.
- A resident said her chappals got stuck with asphalt, and pedestrians struggled to walk on the stretch.
- The cause was disputed. Online commenters blamed either heat or poor work, and a local political leader blamed poor-quality asphalt laid without scraping the old surface.
- The report carried no statement from the corporation.
