Chakan's potholes now have a 14-department committee
Dear Mamdani, a pothole, in our experience, is a hole.
Chakan's potholes now have a reporting structure. There is a 14-department committee headed by the district collector, a darbar every Friday, and a minister who has promised to spend a full day in the area every two months.
The minister also said all potholes would be repaired by 31 August.
We couldn't confirm how that went. If you drive through Chakan, you already know. Please send a signal, and we will forward it to the concerned 14 departments.
The facts
- On 16 August 2026, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Industries Minister Uday Samant met industrialists from the Chakan-Talegaon belt.
- Samant said "all potholes would be repaired by August 31", and that he would spend a full day in the area once every two months.
- A 14-department committee headed by the Pune collector will coordinate the work, and the collector will hold an "Udyog Darbar" every Friday.
- We did not find a report confirming whether the 31 August deadline was met.
